When we have too big of a bite of food in our mouth, there is not enough room for you to chew it properly, and therefore, start the digestion process correctly.
After weight loss surgery, your bites should be the size of your pinky nail, NOT your thumb nail! Or the size of a lima bean. However, you always have your 'hands' with you, so that it an easier way to measure it :-)
How many chews? Well, depending on the food, you should be able to chew it at least 15 times. If it is harder, then the longer you chew, the better. Make a game of it - shoot for 30 chews! It will not hurt you in any way to chew too much! It actually helps your New Tummy do what it is supposed to be doing, digest and process your foods sending the nourishment to the correct parts of your body.
